Hovia | Walls of Wanderlust

We all want a room with a view, and thanks to an ever expanding range of beautiful, atmospheric wall murals across the board, this is now entirely possible. Today I’ll be sharing some beautiful wallpaper choices in order to satiate that need that I’m sure we all have - which is to be at one with the outdoors. (Especially seeing as we have been blessed with a bit of sun here in the UK!)

When designing our master bedroom at home, we knew that we wanted an etherial backdrop – visible to us straight away when opening the door. Crossing that threshold, knowing that we could relax and leave whatever challenged us that day behind, was absolutely paramount. Once establishing the feel that we wanted to room to evoke, getting the look right was next on the agenda. My search began for the perfect wall mural!

Wall murals are usually printed to fit your space exactly – consisting of a larger scale image, rather than a repeat pattern or motif of which we are more familiar. I felt that a wall mural on the closed chimney breast behind our bed would make more of an impact, doubling up as a piece of artwork – and I wasn’t wrong! I knew which online shop I was going to visit first (and incidentally last after finding the perfect mural) and that was Hovia. The Cevenne mural that I found on their website was perfect, and embodied the calm, relaxing qualities that I was craving for the room. I loved its tranquil yet abstract, vibe, and can even feel myself breathing more slowly, and deeply at this very moment whilst writing about it.

Hovia is a British born brand, based in Liverpool. They are committed to providing high quality, thought provoking designs – and they also deliver their murals worldwide. Their main focus as a brand is to provide all of us interior lovers with inventive, one of a kind wall coverings, whilst graciously helping the planet as they do so. Each order processed with Hovia is made to measure, providing a custom fit for any wall of your choice. This allows interior geeks such as myself, and others alike to get as creative as we wish, with the knowledge that our bespoke wall piece has been made with a zero waste policy.

When choosing a mural that is best suited to your space, all that is required are the measurements of the wall in question – and when submitted customers can then review a proof, enabling buyers to gage the scale of the piece. Hovia will also print your wallpaper 1-2% larger than then dimensions inputted, in order to allow adequate access for paper trimming. They really have thought of everything!

My decision to implement the Cevenne mural into the scheme for our bedroom was an easy one, because sometimes intuition leads you, and you just know. That being said, I know that this isn’t always the case when making big design choices. For this reason, I wanted to include a few more wonderful examples of Hovia’s range, of which I believe could help transport you to another realm, perhaps at a time most needed when working from home for example – even if just for a few minutes.

Konya Mural by Hovia – Full Scale Image

I love the warmth that ripples through the Konya Mural, which uses several depths of stony shades. When learning more in the description of this design, I learned that it was actually created by using a Japanese marbling technique named ‘Suminagashi’, in which drops of dye are swirled into water, resulting in a marbling pattern. So organic and soothing – this could be the proud centrepiece in any minimalist home.

Redouté Mural by Hovia – Full Scale Image

A celebration of nature, paired with a retro colour palette. The Redouté mural creates the ultimate tropical scene, and would make a striking addition to any room. It’s no secret that plants epitomise peace and serenity – for this reason, the mural could be a great piece to work into an office space, as just looking at the mural could instantly reduce stress levels. It’s a science!

Another Japanese inspired Mural, featuring a flock of graceful red-crowned cranes. These birds are sacred in Japan, and represent long life and happiness – a beautiful sentiment realised by this thoughtful design. Watercolours have been used to illustrate the cranes in this scene, and their silhouettes are framed by a cloudy pink sky. This wallpaper mural would look amazing wrapped seamlessly around several walls, or as a stand alone piece – perhaps as a backdrop in a bedroom, or nursery.

I’m going to stop here – as the list of gorgeous designs could go on, and on, and on! I would 100% recommend visiting Hovia’s website, learning more about their business and perusing their diverse range of wall coverings, you will not regret it!
