Autumn Picks

Today, I’m dedicating this blog to my favourite season, and to a few beautiful homeware pieces that I happen to have found - and fallen in love with - within it. Warm rusty colour palettes, ochre undertones, cosy knits… now that really is just a bit of me.

Personally, I find it so much easier to shop and choose unique pieces in the Autumn/Winter months, as the products launched usually tie in with my home style really well. I feel that I often gravitate towards a moodier colour palette with more depth, corresponding with my wardrobe also! Sometimes dressing your house can be like dressing yourself, and I would definitely wear all of the colours / patterns / styles found on the following products… Kate Watson Smyth really is onto something with her wardrobe analogy, as this is something that we could all refer back to should we lack inspiration for a particular space.

Textiles

First up, Let’s talk textiles. Below you will find a handpicked selection of absolute beauties that have caught my eye over the past few weeks – each rich in colour, pattern & tactility.

Poppy and Honesty is becoming one of my favourite brands for cushions & bedding – this stripy trim cushion is made with the liberty fabric ‘Thorpe’. I love me a subtle pattern clash.
Colourful Boho at its best, the Madiba Boho Tufted bedding set from La Redoute is Berber inspired, and injects a splash of colour just where needed.
French Connection‘s new A/W range is stunning, as is this Raspberry Chevron Tufted Cushion; which could be styled perfectly with the Madiba bedding set to the left!
The Edgar Throw from Soho Home is knitted by skilled artisans in India, featuring a geometric design with chunky tassels. Drape this over your sofa or bed to add a bit of spirit to your space ✨
Using a tablecloth can instantly vamp up any dinner party, and create the tone / mood for a special occasion hosted at home – this beauty from MANGO adds so much fun and personality to your table… good luck getting rid of your guests at the end of the night!
Coco and Wolf‘s Ruffled Edge Cushion is made with a different variation of Liberty’s ‘Thorpe’ fabric, incorporating blue tones that compliment the burnt orange edge beautifully.

Ceramics

Next I would like to introduce you to a few beautiful ceramic vessels that have caught my eye. Each of these pieces are drastically different to one another, both in style and in price – with this being said however, one thing that they all share is that they are handmade by skilled ceramicists – creating slight variation between each piece within the product line that they belong to (which is personally something that I LOVE).

‘Unique and joyful artwork, and homeware’ is how Tatiana Alida describes her brand, and I absolutely could not agree more. Her ‘Flower Power’ vase has a organic, whimsical quality about it – as each glaze has been hand painted, each applied in a slightly different current.
Miyelle’s Bini Vase is a sculptural masterpiece, finished in a satin cream glaze with a subtle speckle detail. The form of the vase, and others within the collection – are all inspired by the water surrounding Menorca. What a beautiful sentiment to bring into your home.
This wonderful piece (no.24) is from Studio P for Pottery, founded by talented ceramicist Patricia Qua. Her work is inspired by the abstract patterns, forms and textures found on trees. Again, these pieces are a tad bit pricier – but truly are a collector’s item.
Hot Pottery’s ceramics have a certain joie de vivre about them – as each piece is characterised by a unique and vibrant design; making them the perfect addition to any well thought out tablescape / dinner party setting. Their Cranberry Jug could be used to top up guests’ drinks, or to hold a beautiful bouquet.
If you’re looking at add character to your cabinet – look no further. The Beautiful Mess Pasta Dish from KANA London has been handcrafted by talented ceramicist Ana Kerin, and is rich in expression and authenticity.
A planter with a twist? Yes please. Straw London’s Wavy Edge Terracotta Pot has been handmade in the UK, and is hand-thrown; adding charm, and beautiful imperfections to each piece.

Home Fragrance

Switching up the fragrances in your home is a great way to transition into the Autumn / Winter months. I usually go for candles at this time of year, as I feel that the warm glow radiating from them really helps set the mood – and I love how the notes merge together and intensify at different points during the burning time.

I discovered Olor and their luxurious scents at their pop up store in John Lewis last Christmas – and was instantly hooked. English Orchard is just one of the new beautiful scents carefully developed, and added to their collection this Autumn – with fruity top notes of apple, pear and freesia resting on a woody base.
Each year, I wait impatiently for The White Company to release their Autumn / Winter scents – as I can never get enough of their Fireside candle. This scent really sets the mood and cosies up a space instantly; with notes of smoked woods, fresh birch, rich patchouli combined amber and creamy vanilla… heavenly.
Another beautiful, transitional fragrance – Replica’s By the Fireplace transforms the atmosphere of any room that it’s placed in, and is inspired by memories of cosy evenings spent by the fire. Sit back, relax and enjoy comforting notes of warm woods, soft smoke and roasted chestnuts.

Designer Spotlight

A New Tribe x HoodMor – Making Faces

When reviewing my absolute favourite homeware pieces this month, I realised that I had to dedicate a generous chunk of this blog to a unique collaboration that I have been enamoured with. The, ‘Making Faces’ collection is a collaboration between A New Tribe and HoodMor ceramics, and comprises of three distinctive plate and rug designs.

Ceramics

The ‘Fearless‘, (Top) ‘Hungover‘ (Middle) and ‘Dazed‘ Ceramic plates are stunning when showcased as a series, or individually – and can be styled in your home as a wall mounted feature, a coffee table centrepiece or even at the dinner table.

Each plate displayed above has been handcrafted by talented ceramicist Libby Hood, and designed by skilled illustrator Nicola Morland, who intricately hand painted each design onto the plates. The pair decided to form their newly established brand ‘HoodMor‘ together after becoming good friends through other collaborative works. Their past projects have gone on to do spectacularly well, catching the eye of respected retailers – such as A New Tribe, Glassette and Selfridges, all of which now proudly stock their pieces. This is just the very beginning for HoodMor, and I for one cannot WAIT to see what else they have up their sleeve!

Rugs

The rugs within this collection are just as fun loving and dreamy as the plates that compliment them – and have been handmade by A New Tribe’s esteemed network of Moroccan Artisan’s. These works of art are exclusively limited to x5 of each design, with each rug being the weavers own interpretation of Morland’s expressive design. There are three rug designs within the collection, which would make a modest statement in any home, but act quick, as these limited edition runs won’t be returning to A New Tribe’s store again!
